CMC has provided metal recycling services for industrial and business customers, and the general public, for more than 50 years. We’re pleased to have our newest location here in Knoxville, right near one of our innovative, environmentally friendly steel mills, CMC Steel Tennessee.
 
CMC Recycling provides comprehensive recycling options for our customers for both ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Our experienced and dedicated team of recycling industry experts will work with customers to develop tailored solutions to help meet their recycling needs.

Payment Guidelines

Tennessee state law requires any type of federal or state-issued ID in order to sell scrap metal. We can pay cash via an onsite ATM for most items unless prohibited by state law. State law requires a 5-day waiting period for copper payments, and you must have an HVAC license to sell ­­­­­­coils from AC units.

We Don't Accept

  • Hazardous waste (including asbestos)
  • PCB/Transformers/Capacitors
  • Cylinders or other containers of compressed gas (including propane)
  • NiCad-Batteries
  • Radioactive materials
  • Mercury / mercury switches
  • PCB containing materials such as capacitors or light ballasts
  • Liquids of any type
  • Flammable materials
  • Trash, garbage, concrete and other non-recyclable items
  • Broken, cracked, or leaking batteries
  • Office machines and electronic equipment, such as fax machines, copiers, scanners, computers and monitors
  • Materials with strong or objectionable odors
  • Materials containing asbestos
  • Unidentifiable materials
